Creativity Fund: Rwanda

The Creativity Fund: Rwanda is embarking on a bold new mission to put the decision-making for Rwandan grant money into the hands of Rwandans who know and understand what is happening in their communities. The Creativity Foundation was impressed by the fledgling organization’s ability to quickly put together a plan and a budget; clearly both were the product of years of thinking about creating a new model for philanthropy in the third world. We hope some of the projects that will be funded by Creativity Fund: Rwanda will be run by and/or employ creative young people; while other projects the organization funds will encourage and enable young people to achieve their creative potential. We expect this will happen in predictable -- and unpredictable -- ways. It will be a learning experience for all involved!

The Creativity Foundation understands that this grant will be used to hire a staff person, put together two boards, solicit proposals, give feedback to applicants, review proposals, announce the grant winners, and then gather the grant winners to confer. Once the grants are made, there will be further contact with and mentoring of the winners.
